The Society for Cinema & Media Studies, founded in 1959, is a professional organization of film and television scholars withover 1,000 members in the United States, Canada, and other countries throughout the world. Its membership includes universityfaculty, graduate students, archivists, filmmakers, and others devoted to the art of the moving image. Members receive CinemaJournal, the Job List, and all relevant mailings issued by the Society for Cinema & Media Studies. Members are also invitedto attend and participate in the annual conference which highlights ongoing research in the field through the presentationof scholarly papers and screenings of films and videos.
