Afterall’s academic format differentiates it from popular review magazines. Each issue provides the reader with lengthy, well-researched articles, and includes different writers discussing the same artist"s work from varied perspectives. The print journal itself is visually rich, with numerous accompanying illustrations. The Afterall Web site includes additional articles not appearing in the print version. Afterall is published by Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London in editorial and research partnership with Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen (M HKA) and the Department of Visual Arts–Open Practice Committee, University of Chicago.
Founded in 1891, the University of Chicago Press was conceived by President William Rainey Harper as an organic part of the University, extending the influence of Chicago scholars around the globe.
