    Any question regarding the composition ofPardTis complicated by the fact that the tale is only one of the Pardonerʼs several appearances. First introduced as one of a motley assemblage of pilgrims at the end ofGP, the Pardoner later interrupts the Wife of Bath to compliment her preaching and confuse readers with a reference to his imminent marriage.
