    Volume VIII of Disraeli’s correspondence contains 916 letters. The main body, covering 1860-4, addresses 176 recipients and is made up of 556 letters, of which 409 have never before been published, in part or in whole. These include, for example, all 10 to Samuel Wilberforce, 25 of the 40 to Lord Derby and nearly half of the 123 to Sarah Brydges Willyams. In addition, 323 for which there is evidence are described at the end of the Chronological List. Appendix I contains 37 letters to 26 correspondents from the years before this volume.
